Sean @ 22 months old

This is slightly late, but I haven't had time to upload the photos and edit them. Still no new camera so I still need to clean up some of the photos since they're usually too dark.

I would say that the last two months have been characterized by more whining and small tantrums. It looks like the "Terrible Two" stage has already started. Sean isn't terrible actually, but his character is becoming clearer. He's strong headed and stubborn most of the time. But he is also incredibly cute so I can never stay irritated at him for longer than a few minutes. =P
Daddy took out all his and Uncle John's old toys for Sean. There were many broken ones, but we found many still in good condition. So here is Sam trying to influence Sean to like the action figures he used to collect.

Uncle John also had many vehicles from all the old cartoons (X-men, GI Joe, Transformer), and there was Sam's steam roller from when he was 3 years old!

The old Transformer toys were rather cool. We don't even know which character it was, but it could transform from a truck to an airplane. We managed to fit Captain America in it.

We finally deflated the ball pit and moved the balls into a cheap inflatable pool, which we put into our cramped room. I removed his changing table out of the room when I got used to washing his bottom with water. It cleared up some space so I could move his cardboard house to another corner of the room, opening up space for the ball pool.

It's cramped but a lot of fun. After buying the balls for a whole year, Sean is finally playing with them on a regular basis. He just didn't like going into the ball pit, but he loves hanging out in his ball pool. =D

I tried getting Sean to scribble more, but when he realized that all his hands can do is scribble, he refused to draw anymore. He just ask me to draw cars after cars for him. I got tired of thinking up cars to draw, so I copied samples of cars from Edward Emberly's drawing book and pasted it on the wardrobe door. Unfortunately, that doesn't stop Sean from asking me to draw cars everyday. Here he is, improving on what I drew for him. ha ha ha =P

We spent a lot of time deciding whether to get him McQueen and Mater from Megablocks for him. They are overly expensive for something so small! When we first got it for him, all he did was look at them. He would get very upset if we took them apart and mix them up. It was rather fun teasing him. ha ha ha

Now he can put each of them perfectly together,(with a bit of help from us) and in fact, he likes mixing them up together on purpose now. =P

Sean loves playing with the push car at Dr. Kwan's clinic. We've been hunting for one that's cheaper than the 'Cars' push car at Toys'R'us . We finally found one at Giants, almost exactly the same as the one at the clinic, blue instead of yellow. And the best part is that, it's only a fraction of the price.

Funny Incidents

Kicked out of bed!

A few nights ago, I woke up in the middle of the night feeling really cramped. I realized that I was sleeping on Sean's bed!

I distinctly remembered putting him to his bed the night before. Somehow, we switched places. He took my place on the big bed and pushed me to his baby bed!

He usually sleep with us on the big bed and uses his baby bed as a play area. It's really cramped and I wanted to get a good night sleep, for once. Instead, I get such a backache being cramped on his bed for so many hours! LOL =P

Diaper Magician

Yesterday afternoon, Sean came to me and passed me a full diaper out of the blue. For a moment, I was confused because he was still wearing his pants. I touched his bottom and realised that he wasn't wearing his diaper. So how did he get his diaper out without taking off his pants?

I think this was what happened. His diaper was heavy and one of the tab came off. The whole diaper fell off him and went through one of his leg pants. All he did was stepped out of it. Ha ha ha =P

Being mummy to a 22 month old

As Sean gets older each month, it seems that he gets clingier and clingier, and I seem to have less and less time for myself. Other than the hours I'm away teaching tuition, I am almost with Sean all the time. When he sleeps, I catch up with my work and prepare for my lessons. Which is why, I haven't been updating this blog for quite a while.

As I'm still breast feeding, I think it's good enough that I'm already giving him half of his nutritional needs. So the maid feeds Sean his solid. He should be eating by himself right now. But he is not interested in food, so he either throws them everywhere or stuff them into his mouth until he chokes and vomit all of it out. Rather than getting irritated over wasted food, I figure, when he's ready and hungry enough, he will eat by himself. So I use that precious half hour for reading and coffee time.

When I'm home, my hours is spent playing with my active toddler, bathing and trying to get him to nap. He wants me to draw him cars.. lots of cars.... We play with his cars, small or big, we play in the ball pit and play his puzzles. I borrow books and try to interest him in listening to the stories. Sometimes he likes , sometimes he doesn't. It's a trial and error thing. We go out and let him run around the empty shopping malls on weekdays, and of course, watch TV. I don't think we can eliminate TV at all.. I just don't have the energy to fill up all that hours with activities =P

Recently, when he wants to watch TV, I turn on Baby Einstein and tell him the names of each animals or describe what is happening. Sean's verbal skill is very limited. I just hope that whatever words I describe to him are lodged in his brain, and when he's ready to talk, they are already in his mind. =D

Sean used to spend some time in the evening in his grandparents' room, but now he seldom wants to be with them. I guess it's because our bedroom is his play room now and Mummy and Daddy are the only ones who will get down to the floor and crawl about with him, sit and draw cars for him, watch his TV shows with him without getting bored or attach his truck and trailer over and over again for the umpteenth time of the day!
